10 THINGS EVERY NEW MANAGER NEEDS TO KNOW 15 Check in by asking: Am I meeting these needs? Are people achieving individual, team and organizational objectives? Is each person getting what he or she needs from me and the organization? Am I meshing those needs with task and team requirements? Is my team working well together? In addition to meeting the needs of the task, the team and the individuals, check in to see how YOU are doing by asking: Am I meeting my own needs? Are you • managing the relationship with your boss? • going after your own learning and development? • managing your stress levels? If you answered no to any of these questions, do what you can to get your own needs met. Don't neglect your own needs; if you do, all other areas will suffer. Use this model as your compass, and check in with yourself periodically. It will help keep you focused and on track. 1 2 3
